Zihuatanejo

Just spent the past week in beautiful Zihuatanejo on the Pacific coast of Guerrero. Incredible lush mountains and beaches lined with palm and mango. We stayed at a great boutique hotel on Madera Beach, the Aura de Mar. Coincidentally, we stayed at the same hotel 17 years ago, and didn't realize it at the time of booking. But the place is wonderful - incredible views of Zihua Bay, great restaurant and pool area, friendly staff ready to help you with anything. Hotel is a short seaside walk to Zihuatanejo centro with shops, restaurants, etc. We ate fresh seafood every day, swam in the ocean (about 80 degree water), lounged around the pool, visited an archaeological site, drove up & down the coast about 40km each direction, and released baby sea turtles on a very remote beach, accessible only by ATV. All in all, loved it. October is off season, so it was very uncrowded which was nice! Easy quick flight from Queretero - less than one hour each way.
