Casa de las Ranas

We hosted our friends Vicki and Paul here this week from Novato, CA. Their second trip to SMA, so enjoyed taking them to a few new sights including nearby Cienguita to see the beautiful mosaics and artwork at Casa de las Ranas (and the "Chapel of Jimmy Ray"). The property is the home of artists Anado McLaughlin and Richard Schultz, who transformed a neglected home and 2 hectare property into a fantastic wonderland of mosaic, painted and sculpted surfaces. It was our 3rd (or 4th?) time out at their property, and have always enjoyed walking around and taking in all of the color, creativity, detail and love they invested over many years to make it what it is. Casa de las Ranas was a highlight, but we also had a great time with Paul and Vicki touring Guanajuato, La Gruta, Atontonilco, along with lots of music, food and rooftop cocktails here in San Miguel!
